A farmer’s wife named Sally called up their insurance agent to file a claim after their old barn went up in flames. Furious and ready for a payout, she demanded the full amount the barn was insured for: $60,000.
The agent sighed and said, “Whoa, hold on just a second there, Sally. That’s not exactly how insurance works. We don’t just hand over the cash. First, we have to send out an independent adjuster to assess the exact damage, and then our company will provide you with a brand-new replacement barn, built just like the original.”
There was a long, dead silence on the line.
After a lengthy pause, Sally cleared her throat and replied:
“What?! Well, if that’s the way you people do business… cancel the life insurance policy on my husband immediately!”
