Two blondes decided to repair the roof of a house one sunny afternoon.
Since the roof was fairly large, they agreed to split the work. One blonde climbed up and started working on one side, while the other blonde went around and began working on the opposite side.
At first, everything seemed to be going well. They had a box of nails, two hammers, and plenty of confidence.
But after a while, one blonde noticed something strange.
Her friend would take a nail from the box, look at it carefully, turn it around in her fingers, study it for a second, and then either hammer it into the roof or toss it behind her.
This kept happening again and again.
Nail after nail, she would inspect them closely, and almost half of them ended up being thrown away.
The first blonde watched for a few more minutes, getting more and more confused. Finally, she couldn’t take it anymore.
She yelled across the roof, “Why are you tossing out all those nails?”
Her friend shouted back, “Well, those were all pointing the wrong way!”
The first blonde stared at her in disbelief. Then her face turned red with frustration.
Infuriated, she bellowed, “You idiot! Those are for my side of the roof!”
