A police officer was parked by the side of the road one afternoon when he saw a biker fly past him well over the speed limit.
The officer turned on his lights and siren and pulled out after him.
At first, the biker looked back and seemed ready to stop. But then, instead of slowing down, he twisted the throttle and sped up. The officer followed, watching as the motorcycle climbed faster and faster until it was going over 100 miles per hour.
After several tense minutes, the biker finally seemed to realize he wasn’t going to get away. He slowed down, pulled over to the shoulder, and waited.
The officer got out of his car, clearly annoyed, and walked up to him.
“Listen,” the cop said, “it’s been a long day. My shift is almost over, and I really don’t feel like doing extra paperwork. If you can give me one good excuse for why you ran from me, I’ll let you go.”
The biker took off his helmet and thought for a moment.
Then he said, “Well, officer, about a week ago, my wife ran away with a cop.”
The officer raised an eyebrow.
The biker continued,
“And when I saw you chasing me… I thought you might be that officer trying to return her!”
