Joe had asked his friend Bob to come over after work and help him repair the deck behind the house. So, as soon as they finished work, Bob went straight to Joe’s place.
When they walked through the front door, Joe didn’t even put his tools down first. He went right to his wife, gave her a warm hug, kissed her, and said, “You look beautiful today. I missed you so much while I was at work.”
Bob watched in surprise but said nothing.
Later, during supper, Joe complimented his wife’s cooking, thanked her for the meal, kissed her again, and told her how much he loved her.
The next day, while they were working on the deck, Bob said, “Joe, I have to admit, I was surprised by the way you fuss over your wife.”
Joe smiled. “I started doing that about six months ago. It completely revived our marriage. Things have never been better.”
Bob thought about it all day and decided to try it himself.
That evening, he got home, walked straight to his wife, gave her a big hug, kissed her, and said, “I love you.”
To his shock, she burst into tears.
“What’s wrong?” Bob asked.
She sobbed, “This is the worst day of my life. First, little Billy fell off his bike and twisted his ankle. Then the washing machine broke and flooded the basement.”
Then she looked at him and cried,
“And now you come home drunk!”
