Toby Keith Discusses His Fight With Stomach Cancer
For the first time, country music performer Toby Keith discusses his health. In the fall of 2021, the fan-favorite received a stomach cancer diagnosis. He has been receiving treatment ever since.
Keith posted a message about his health on his social media platforms. “I’ve spent the last six months getting chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery,” he stated. All is well thus far. I require some time to rest, heal, and breathe.
Keith claims that despite all of his health struggles, he will always remember his followers and supporters. I am excited to spend time with my family, he remarked. But I’ll definitely run into the fans shortly. I am eager. -T.”
It was unclear right once what would happen to Keith’s scheduled engagements for the future months as a result of this statement. His website at the time stated that his upcoming performance would be on June 17 in Wheaton, Illinois.
Following Keith’s admission, the Ohio State Fair also declared that his performance in Columbus, Ohio, scheduled for July 28, had been canceled. Some of the tour dates may possibly be canceled, according to Elaine Schock, Keith’s publicist, “but I’m not sure how many at this point.”
The singer’s most recent CD, “Peso in my Pocket,” was also made public on his website. It was released last year after a protracted hiatus from performing because of Covid pandemic limitations.
Keith revealed in a PEOPLE interview at the time about his album that the ideas for the songs just occurred to him while he was running, which is one of his favorite activities.
He explained, “Before I started jogging, I would look at the musical ideas I had on my phone, and then I would take off. The next thing I would know, my time would be gone, and I would have been working nonstop on the music in my head. When I came home, I would turn on my phone’s recorder and capture what I had.

One of the leaders in the music business is Toby Keith. Keith has performed for American service members stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq as a seasoned entertainer. Additionally, he has entertained previous presidents Donald Trump, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush.
Keith has long been and will continue to be a supporter of cancer patients. He established the Toby Keith Foundation ten years ago to support sick children and their families. When the “OK Kids Korral” facility opened its doors in 2014, it gave children receiving chemotherapy a free, practical, and welcoming place to stay while receiving treatment.
Keith’s songs “I Wanna Talk About Me” and “Red Solo Cup” are two of his more well-known ones. Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he released the song “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (The Angry American),” which catapulted him to national prominence.
