My neighbor was working in his yard when he was startled by a late-model car that suddenly crashed through his hedge and landed in his front lawn.

He quickly rushed over to help the elderly woman driver, helping her out of the car and seating her in a lawn chair.

With a bit of surprise, he said, “You seem quite elderly to be driving.”

She proudly replied, “Well, yes, I am. I’ll be 97 next month. And I’ve reached the age where I don’t even need a driver’s license anymore.”

Curious, he asked, “How do you figure that?”

She smiled and said, “The last time I visited my doctor, he asked me if I had a driver’s license. I told him I did, and I handed it to him.”

She continued, “He pulled out a pair of scissors, cut the license into pieces, tossed them in the trash, and said, ‘You won’t need this anymore.’ So I thanked him and left!”
