A 50-year-old lady suddenly started learning how to swim instead of her usual routine of going to church. Everyone was curious and asked her, “Why the change in your interest? Why swimming all of a sudden?”
The lady, looking a bit helpless, replied, “Whenever my son and daughter-in-law argue, she always asks him, ‘If your mom and I fell into the water, whom would you save first?’ And I don’t want to put my son in a difficult position, so I’m learning how to swim!”
A few days later, the husband and wife were quarreling again, and the daughter-in-law asked, “Now tell me! If your mom and I fell into the water, whom would you save first?”
The husband replied, “I don’t have to jump in the water—my mom knows how to swim; she’ll save you.”
The wife insisted, “No, you have to jump in the water and save one of us!”
The husband replied, “Then you’re surely going to drown… because I don’t know how to swim, and my mom will definitely save me first!”
