One morning, the teacher decided to test Little Johnny’s knowledge of numbers.
“Johnny,” she said, “do you know your numbers?”
Little Johnny sat up proudly. “Yes, ma’am. My father taught me.”
The teacher smiled. “That’s wonderful. Let’s see how well he did.”
Johnny nodded confidently.
The teacher began, “What comes after three?”
“Four,” Johnny answered immediately.
“Very good,” said the teacher. “And what comes after six?”
“Seven,” said Johnny.
The teacher was impressed. “Excellent, Johnny. Your father really did a good job teaching you.”
Little Johnny smiled even wider.
Then the teacher decided to ask one more question.
“Alright,” she said, “what comes after ten?”
Little Johnny didn’t hesitate.
He grinned and said:
“Jack.”
