A doctor was giving a lecture in Oxford about modern nutrition.
“The things we eat should have wiped most of us out by now,” he said.
“Red meat is packed with steroids and dye. Soft drinks eat away at your stomach lining. Chinese food? Full of MSG. High trans-fat diets are a disaster waiting to happen. And don’t even get me started on the germs lurking in our drinking water.”

He paused, then added, “But there’s one food that causes more misery and suffering than anything else. Can anyone guess what it is?”
The room fell silent.
Then, a 70-year-old man in the front row raised his hand and said softly:
